Smashwords Problem

I've been having trouble connecting to Smashwords the past 2 days. I get an error 500 (site undergoing maintenance or programming error). Is anyone else having trouble getting to Smashwords?

Your right, I tried it and it didn't connect. I hope it is temporary.

I just tried and had no problem. I was also there yesterday with no problem.

It has been intermittant over the past few days, and the owner is aware of - and investigating - the issue:

Hya Rhadin. The 500 error comes up quite often at SmashWords. I first came across it during Read an Ebook Week when traffic was suddenly heavier than ever. CEO Mark Coker upgraded then, but the site is so hugely popular that he probably needs even more power to his elbow. Luckily, the 500 error problem tends to last only a short time -- peak periodsd I guess. Cheers. Neil

Before anyone panics, as of sometime last night Smashwords began displaying the "500 - Internal Server Error" message again.

I know they were supposed to be finishing up a big shipment to Sony right now, so this may have something to do with it. I'd expect them to be back online later in the day.

Also possibly what Neil mentions above, getting heaps more popular perhaps, hence melting. A good and bad problem I guess.

I was able to log in a few minutes ago with no problems. Hopefully, the problem is fixed.

I'm getting nowhere as of 5:25 am Pacific Time July 2; result varies between error 500 and simply stalling. Thanks for posting these updates - I was afraid the problem was at my end.
