You can easily ignore buttons. You can't so easily deal with no buttons if you want them. Maybe Kobo will do an Elipsa V2 with buttons and 300 dpi. I'll not rush into getting a Scribe for PDFs to replace the 227 dpi Elipsa.

Not to me: they don't offer any flexibility about how to hold the thing, and having to flip it over to change hands is awkward. I have 2 of these (Oasis 2 and PB Era) and have never felt them to be as comfortable as my buttonless devices.

I would consider a Kobo if they had a 7" one without buttons.
