Probably because they can't sell books through the iOS app. Now users can have an app-like experience on the iPhone and purchase stuff at the same time.

What part of beta needs explaining, John? Kobo has not announced this yet. It is well and truly not ready for prime time.

It is only for Kobo books, in any case. Did you recently buy a Kobo? Are you buying Kobo books and using them with a current Kobo app? I thought you were a Sony guy all the way.

The test of this site will be if it works with browsers on mobile devices, in particular the ones that are Apple products. People with desktops can read on the Kobo desktop app.
