Talking New Addiction !

My Kindle is a new addiction - it replaced over 50 years of smoking. Now instead of reaching for a cancer stick, I reach for my Kindle. But I'm very, very new with it. I'm still reading about it...and so far, I LOVE it. I've downloaded a few things, but so far haven't completed an entire book - am too busy reading about how to use various functions, and.....

....trying my hand at making some screensavers - using images I've made myself throughout the years, so I'll be able to share them with everyone without the worry of copyrights. When/IF I succeed, I'll post the info where they will be available for download. FREE, of course!

Hi Pixel and welcome to the Forum. Congratulations; you have traded a very bad addiction for a VERY good one. And you are among a group of very friendly fellow addicts.

If you ever feel the need to get rid of your Kindle addiction, I've been told there are these Kindle substitute things called books. Not sure how they work, I think you tape them to your skin or something...

Hello Pixel -- welcome to MobileRead. It's a great place to hang out with like-minded people. Most of us are passionate about our book readers. I own both a Kindle and a Sony and would be hard-pressed to give either one up.

Welcome Pixel.

If you have any questions about making screensavers that look good on a 4 grayscale Kindle, let me know. I've made several, and it's not hard to do, it just helps to know a few shortcuts.

I am waiting on my 3rd Kindle at the moment. Should be here by the end of next week. I know what you mean about it being addicting. I'm lost without mine when I'm out and about.

Enjoy yours.

Thanks, Dreamers for the welcome. Right now I'm trying to figure out how you get that picture attached with your message. Is there something within the forums explaining how?

Are those the things piled on shelfs requiring regular dusting?

Thanks for the welcome. I'm such a dork that I didn't know there were brands other than Kindle. I was so thrilled when I first saw the Kindle and bought it before I did any research. Oh, well. I'm still a happy camper.

Okay - I'm familiar with creating images [using PaintShop Pro], but if you have some shortcuts, I'd very much appreciate any help!

I'd also like to know how you get a picture on the side of your message - as well as the one at the bottom.

Select "User CP" from the blue bar. Under the "Settings & Options" in the control panel, pick "Edit Avatar". It's pretty simple. You can pick a standard avatar or use your favorite image. I don't think I've stumbled across a how-to for maneuvering the forum features, but I'll let you know if I find one. If you need some help, just give me a yell.
