Strange problem with CF slot and USB
I bought a few 16gb CF cards to use with the Iliad that were confirmed working on the Iliad forum. Problem is they're not working for me in the Iliad. No matter what I try, and believe me I tried a lot of different things in 3 hours, I can not get my Iliad to see these CF cards.
An idea popped into my head: What if I plug my USB 5-in-1 card reader into the Iliad USB port and see if I could read the CF card that way? Sure enough, it worked! All the files on the CF card showed up and were ready to go. So I don't know what to make of this problem. Do I have a bad CF card slot on my Iliad? Does the CF card need a certain file or folder structure to be read by the Iliad directly? Is the Iliad's CF slot finicky and I'll need to jiggle the card around until it shows up? Any ideas would be appreciated. I love the device, by the way. It's everything I hoped it would be. |

Try formatting the card as "FAT" under windows. The iLiad should be able to read the filesystem off the card itself.
I can't imagine why it would work with a card reader and not the internal slot though... that's quite odd. |

SanDisk 16GB CF works for Iliad, via reader, but not via USB
I have an even stranger problem.
I bought a 16GB CF - SanDisk FAT32. It works fine in the Iliad. It works fine in my Laptop and PC (MFC) via their cardreaders. The problem is that files in the root directory appear corrupted via Iliad USB. That is characters are garbled - some okay, many rubbish or boxes. I suspect there is not enough power and hence lots of bit errors. If you don't write to the CF, but remove it and try it in a reader it is fine. If you do write to the CF via Iliad USB it is fatal -
I tried formatting as FAT and got a warning so went with FAT2 again. dP |
