Free (Kindle) Black Genesis by L. Ron Hubbard [Sci-Fi Satirical Adventure Thriller]
Black Genesis by science fiction writer turned cult-leader L. Ron Hubbard (ISFDB, Wikipedia) is the 2nd in his Mission Earth series of pulpy sci-fi adventures, this one apparently a satirical espionage thriller, free courtesy of publisher Galaxy Press, who swear up and down they have nothing to do with the Scientology branch of his empire, yet only ever seem to republish just his work.
Totally not for the purposes of indoctrination, they used to give us his old vintage pulp stories like clockwork. Why, just about every other month we could look forward to making fresh* Scientology jokes in a new thread. But then Xenu no longer smiled upon us† and the freebies retreated like a clam shell snapping shut, harking back to that atavistic reaction which recalled those events which traumatized the thetans so that they would give us no more. Until now. Lo and behold, apparently they've decided to give us a new freebie (and repeat some of the old), though they're being stingy this time, giving them only out to Amazon this time around unlike the multi-store freebies these used to often be. Anyway, currently free @ Amazon UK (slated to drop in the main store after midnight as these things usually do). And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) ebook thread of the day. Mostly because I could make some Scientology jokes again. Enjoy! Description Drugs. Sex. Murder. Taxes. Welcome to planet Earth. They’re here. They’ve arrived. And they’re all eyes. The Voltarian scouting party—illegal aliens extraordinaire—on a top-secret expedition led by one Jettero Heller, Royal Officer of the Fleet. His mission: rescue the planet from pollution—and make it safe for the upcoming invasion. His problem: the planet may not want to be saved—and the invasion may just be a trick. One way or another, Heller is about to undertake a journey of discovery—and it’s a real trip. From a Middle Eastern mecca of drugs—the key to a scheme to bring down the Voltarian government—to the mean streets of New York, he’s finding out what makes this world go round. Between the Mafia wars and the brothel whores, between the ruthless IRS agents and the crazy cab drivers, between the muggings and the weapons of mass destruction, this is one learning curve that’s about to turn into a roller-coaster ride. And before it’s over, all Heller will break loose … in the name of BLACK GENESIS. * Okay, the jokes were kind of stale, but we still liked making them. † Maybe Xenu didn't like the jokes. Which is why he ranks below the Flying Spaghetti Monster, who has a much better sense of humour and an awesome church made out of LEGO® instead of a cruddy church made out of Dianetics™. Edited, thanks. I'm going to blame the thetans for distracting me.

It's been rumored that this series is among the most horribly written sci-fi books ever written.
I've never read the series, but I've heard of people resorting to using the pages as toilet paper. Again, that's an unverified rumor from a sick mind. Another rumor is that tana leaves are no longer being used to summon the Mummy. Instead....yes, you guessed it. [Glenn Strange, Bela Lugosi, and Boris Karloff can rest in peace.] Again, this is only a rumor from a very disturbed mind.
