Hi - First time poster long time ereader

Hello everyone

I ordered a dark blue Sony PRS-505 a few minutes ago. After reading about these devices during the last year, I finally decided, thanks to the thread showing a discount at Walmart, to buy a dedicated ereader.

My choice had been narrowed down to a Sony device, either PRS-505 or 700, or the Hanlin V3 (BeBook version).

In the past, I have used the following to read etexts:

Casio Z1000 or Z100 maybe not Casio ?
Fujitsu Lifebook E - ????
Casio Cassiopeia A-20
Palm IIIc
Compaq iPAQ H3765
Dell Axim x50v
HP TX1000

Hi werdegast and welcome to the Forum. I got a 505 last January and like it a lot. Be sure and let us know how you like yours.

Thanks for the welcome

I have been reading ebooks for about ten years.

My favorite devices have been the iPAQ and Axim. The Casio z1000, or whatever it was, did not work very well at all. If I remember correctly, it was more of a PIM than a PDA.

The Axim has been sturdy but after repeated drops and crashes only three buttons work

My reader arrived Thursday. So far I am totally satisfied with the reader and it has exceeded my expectations.

The eBook Library software, on the other hand, is awful. I am another person who is unable to connect to register my reader. Maybe after Sony has their new store online for a few days it will work.

I have been using calibre to convert some html books from Project Gutenberg with great success.
