Goal: Find 12 "new to me" authors I enjoy reading
I'm not sure if this is ambitious or not! But I'd like to branch out a bit more and see if I can't find a few more must-buy authors/series, and this seems like a good way to do it.
In the process, I'll try to keep better track of all books read (or reread) than I usually do. I'm also going to aim for a maximum $30 month book habit--preferably less--which means I need to take better advantage of Kindle's Prime Lending Library, my public library, and the Deals threads where possible. We'll see how close I get! New-to-me authors: Spoiler:

Goal: To read 12 book in 2014
I'm neither a heavy reader, nor ambitious, so my goal is to read 12 books this year or 1 book a month.

52 books this year
I'm boosting my goal this year a tad, but only because I am now forced to take an hour lunch at work (I have barely taken a lunch at work in the last 6 years) so I know I should have more time to get back into reading.
I am aiming for 52 this year. Figured a book a week shouldn't be to hard. Though I am behind this month die to a bout of Food Poisoning. You'd think reading when i'll would be easier that it is Wish me luck Carryover to be finished from last year

150 books --and-- 50,000 pages
I find that a goal of 150 books means I will have to stretch at some point, so I'm setting that goal again. To keep me from pumping up the numbers by reading short books, I have a concurrent goal of reading 50,000 pages (or page equivalents). For eBooks and audio books, I use the page count from the mass market paperback version.
A secondary goal is to seriously reduce spending for books. I plan to buy no books for myself unless I'm spending gift cards. While I have a sufficient backlog of books -- both DTB and on my Kindle -- I am making a lot of use of the public libraries this year. I'm thrilled that the libraries now offer eBook lending. January 2014: 14 books, 4396 pages -- 12 DTB, 2 EB, 7 library Spoiler:
February 2014: 16 books, 4726 pages -- 6 DTB, 9 EB, 1 AB, 14 library Spoiler:
March 2014: 12 books, 3627 pages -- 4 DTB, 8 EB, 6 library Spoiler:
April 2014: 13 books, 4039 pages -- 2 DTB, 10 EB, 1 AB, 9 library Spoiler:
May 2014: 17 books, 5367 pages -- 5 DTB, 11 EB, 1 AB, 11 library Spoiler:
June 2014: 14 books, 4535 pages -- 10 EB, 1 AB, 3 DTB, 10 library Spoiler:
July 2014: 10 books, 2987 pages -- 5 EB, 5 DTB, 8 library Spoiler:
August 2014: 14 books, 4327 pages -- 10 EB, 2 Audio, 2 DTB, 8 library Spoiler:
September 2014: 14 books, 4516 pages -- 11 EB, 2 DTB, 1 Audio, 4 Library Spoiler:
October 2014: 13 books, 4243 pages -- 10 EB, 2 DTB, 1 Audio, 5 Library Spoiler:
November 2014: 10 books, 3317 pages -- 9 EB, 1 Audio, 1 Library Spoiler:
December 2014: 7 books, 2481 pages -- 6 EB, 1 Audio, 3 Library Spoiler:
Totals: 154 books, 48,561 pages By format: eBook: 101 Paper: 43 Audio: 10 Goal reached on 10 December 2014 -- 150 books read. Last edited by Hampshire Nanny; 01-08-2015 at 07:23 PM. |
