Hi. Is it possible to create an image or clone in some way the whole drive unit of my kobo aura one (is not limited edition)?
I would like to patch the firmware and I want to have an backup it if the things go wrong

Many thanks

I don't believe there is a way to take an image of the storage of the Aura ONE. But, you don't need to. Just connect the device to a PC and take a copy of everything on the visible partition. If you need to do a factory reset, you can restore this afterwards.

I wonder if you could connect over telnet, fsfreeze the filesystems, then pipe the internal sd with netcat to the computer? I'll try this when I get a chance and see if it works.

Has already been done and described at this forum. A search should confirm this.

Standard issue. What good is a backup you can't restore

In theory, you should be able to connect to the KA1 and restore the backup.

But it has to be able to connect to WiFi which means the device is working. And if you can do that, then my method (backup the books partition) is all you need.
