I used to be a big Dark Conspiracy fan back in the day. I miss GDW...

And maybe there is a way to code in something to the BB software here that will strip the links? An average person is not going to be able to figure out how to remove affiliate links, or even notice they are in there, when they spot giveaways like this...

Apparently via Amazon, at least, if you're directed to their site using an affiliate link on anything and happen to buy something during the same browsing session (or add some other stuff to your shopping cart and check it out later within a specified time frame), then the affiliate whose link it was can get about 4% of the purchase price of whatever it is you bought.

This was the reason used to ban tags for those who were using them (and I am one of them - people do buy other things, although not so much from this board). It does make it easier to post the links (both for those who make a bit of income this way and those who find them elsewhere), but the moderators have banned it, other than in the designated thread/month for those who want to maintain one.

For most other stores, the aff tags are of less use, as the designated time is often measured in minutes or a few hours and there isn't as much there to impulse shop from.
