BorrowBox collection in Aus/NZ libraries

I noticed my local library now lets me borrow ebooks from BorrowBox: https://fe.bolindadigital.com/wldcs_...l?b2bSite=3115, which seems to be based in Australia.

This collection has a lot of books pubished by Macmillan that are not available from the Overdrive collection (lots of good British SF/Fantasy from authors like Peter F.Hamilton, Charles Stross, China Mieville), as well as quite a few Australian and New Zealand authors.

Geoff is Borrowbox an app for devices like Apple stuff and Android stuff only?

Looking at the google Aus references various libraries seem to show it as an app.

Oddly the Borrowbox web page:
http://www.borrowbox.com

only comes up as:
http://www.borrowbox.com/support/

And looks like the jpg below .....

User guides show that the Borrowbox library is also ADE-compatible:

Here's a side-by-side feature comparison:

Meeera what do you make of it?

Is Borrowbox an alternative to Overdrive for libraries, perhaps because they're cheaper or whatever? Not suggesting that libraries only use one or the other - but am wondering why use Borrowbox if Overdrive works well.

Is it offering something that Overdrive doesn't?

The comparison shows that they both require ADE.

I can't tell from here. They appear to be pushing the value of the audiobook side of the Borrowbox service, but I don't use that feature at all on Overdrive, so I don't know.

To complicate things further, some Australian libraries are also using Axis-360.

The BorrowBox collection works basically the same as Overdrive, once I log in with my library card number I can borrow books and download with ADE.

I guess the reason to use BorrowBox as well as Overdrive is simply that it has some books that are not available through Overdrive.
