Touch loses responsiveness as battery percentage drops...
I am seeing issues with my Nook Simple Touch losing touch responsiveness as the battery drops under 75%.
The battery on mine got down to 72% last night and the touch sensitivity seemed to get much less. I was having to double-tap to get a response. After a restart (power off and on), it seemed a tiny bit better but still not as good. This morning I recharged my Nook and the touches are being seen again. I fear we are seeing a power issue with the IR sensors. The engineers were probably asked to lengthen battery life at the cost of the IR hardware. Hopefully they can fix this with an update. |

I am at 66% and it still works fine. Maybe yours could be defective. I would try to exchange it if the problem persists.

I have a 650 that uses the same IR touch and I can go to flat and still have the same responsiveness.
So it's not the technology behind the touch that is an issue. Well, it shouldn't be. |

All excellent answers but I would like to add something to the discssion. Please don't hold battery life against any electronic reader, battery technology hasn't gotten very far and is not real advanced. I need to re-charge my electronic reader at least twice a day.

From reading the discussion at B&N it looks like restarting the Nook appears to fix the problem for a few people. Could be a memory issue rather than a battey issue.
