[Aura H2O 3.18.0] Koreader/Coolreader Font Problems for a specific .epub

Hi all,

I have just installed Koreader and Coolreader using KSM 7. In general, they work well, but I run into problems attempting to change the font and size used for the display of a specific .epub. Specifically, I would like to use a Serif font for reading.

- Koreader, v2014.11-346: `Change font' appears to offer two such fonts (FreeSerif and NotoSerif), but selections have not effect at all, the text body is still displayed in a Sans Serif font (no idea which one ...). The font size can be changed, though, using the menu that appears (sometimes? when opening the top menu for the first time?) on the lower border of the screen.

- Coolreader (pbchess 2015.09): Settings/Styles/Face allows the selection of Serif fonts (e.g., DejaVu and Bitstream), but the text remains in a Sans Serif font regardless of choice. Changes to the font size, however, are applied.

Note that Nickel does nicely display that specific .epub in a Serif font. Also, other .epubs do allow to change the font face in both Koreader and Coolreader. Only that specific .epub stubbornly stays in Sans Serif. Am I overlooking something here?

Many thanks for all hints,
Andreas

Maybe the sans serif font is included in the ebook's internal style sheet. KoReader and CoolReader both allow to disable the internal styles via menu. You can also try to remove the font from the style sheet using Calibre.

Right, in Koreader's bottom reader menu, the gear icon includes that option. Also, a long press on the font selection should offer to set that one as the default. Then when a epub's internal css is disabled, that font would be used. ( I added the "Stone Serif Regular.tff and often use that.)

Luck;
Ken
