Bargain (nook) Buy 2 selected Nook books from list, get $5 B&N Gift Card

B&N are running a promo on their front page which says that if you purchase any 2 books from this particular 73 book "Engrossing Fiction" list between March 17th and April 1st, you will get back a $5 gift certificate to put into your account. This seems like a decent way to get around the no-discounting limitations imposed by Agency pricing if they're not going to do coupons on the non-Agency books.

It's a mix of "modern classics" and recent bestsellers and the lowest-priced book that I spotted was $1.99 (but most are around $10). There's Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and Daniel Keyes' Flowers For Algernon in there if you're looking for sf stuff (but I think I've seen those much cheaper during special discount sales).

Full terms and conditions of the deal on this page. You can only get the GC deal once, no matter how many of the eligible books you buy, and it all has to go to the same account using the same email address.

Are there any Agency books in the list? I couldn't find any after a quick look.

In any case, be very careful. B&N's prices for some titles are very expensive compared to Amazon's. Example:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/witc...01303785&itm=7
http://www.amazon.com/Witches-East-B...2052271&sr=1-1
BN $12 .... Amazon $3.99

We Need to Talk About Kevin is BN $13.50 and Amazon $9.00
The Prince of Tides BN $9.89 Amazon $7.59
Nemesis BN $16.90 Amazon $9.86

No, I don't think there are, but this probably encourages people to buy more non-Agency books and for retailers to feature them more as special sales, which works out for the better in the long run, IMHO, even if you do have to shop around to get the best amortized price.

For Nook owners, it's always worth checking other retailers. It appears that Google Play is doing some heavy discounting these days, and several of the ebooks on B&N's list were the Google Play 25 cent promos a couple weeks ago. It's really too bad B&N doesn't price match like Amazon does...
