Kindle Previewer 3 (Beta) -- Any good?
ok, so the best way to look at your work is on the device. Yes, yes, yes. Agree.
But has anyone used the Kindle Previewer 3 in Beta, and if so, how close to the "real thing" do you find it to be? I'm looking for a fast way to check various formatting things, and this one seems to be closest to the actual devices that I've offloaded to. Also need to hear about the best way to preview iPhone and tablet, neither of which I have right now, but will soon. thanks |

I still defer to 2.92. I find it more accurate and more...acute, I guess. Less hazy about how the book will appear on device x. Vis: iOS. Only ONE WAY to view that. Make an AZK, and sideload the AZK file, via hardwire, to iTunes on your computer, to the device. No other way--if you view a MOBI file on iOS, you're only seeing half the story. And not the good half, either. Hitch |

Kindle Previewer 3 beta version 3.12 is now available.
It adds an "Auto Navigate" feature that steps through the book page-by-page so that you can more easily check for problem areas. |

Does Previewer 3 still generate an AZK? Seems less obvious where it might be placing it than it was with the earlier Previewer version.

I see this error from the Previewer if I try to open a MOBI file that was created by kindlegen (V2.9 build 1029-0897292 or build 0530-706a59) using the "-dont_append_source" option.

Amazon has released version 3.13 of the Kindle Previewer. They are no longer calling it a "beta".
I haven't had time to try it yet. Added: I did some testing. It converts some books that failed with the previous version. (Each new Previewer version seems a bit better at that.) The main new feature is support for Chinese language books. Last edited by jhowell; 08-04-2017 at 05:33 PM. |
