FT Life & Arts

Can the issue with Life & Arts not be circumvented by reading the rss feeds on http://www.ft.com/intl/rss? The LA Times recipe reads rss feeds. Maybe a modification of that recipe would generate a complete FT?

I tried this but am very limited in my programming experience and so ran into an calibre, version 0.9.32
ERROR: Invalid input: <p>Could not create recipe. Error:<br>'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xfb in position 5490: invalid start byte

error when trying to read my .py file into calibre.

Thx for any help,

Piet

I have now saved my recipe as utf8 and can run it in calibre, but am too unfamiliar to get it to run.

This is what I tried - see attachment, which is the LA Times recipe, but with modifications to read from the FT Life & Arts section. (I had to change the .py extension to .txt to get it to upload).
Attached Files
File Type: txt FTLA - Copy.txt (7.6 KB, 206 views)

FT has resolved the issue. The articles of the weekend sections are now displayed on http://www.ft.com/intl/uk-edition and http://www.ft.com/intl/international-edition. As of today, the Calibre recipe downloads everything correctly.

Unlike before the FT redesign, the weekend articles seem to be displayed even on weekdays. So your weekday issues may contain "Life & Arts" etc from last weekend. And the weekend issue may contain the weekday "Arts" section.

Anyways, I am happy now. Many thanks to everybody here for the help and support.
