Re strange behaviour of the capacitive buttons on certain chargers, I also see this when charging from my 12 inch Mac PowerBook or the USB port built into a Dell monitor at work. I have assumed this is a property of the reader more than the charger. Am I wrong? (Strange behaviour means sometimes when I use a button, the light on that button stays lit and that buttons and its two mates become unusable until a hard reset. (That's right, even a reboot does not cure the problem.)

I don't remember seeing an official explanation from iRex about it, but the theory I've seen is that something strange about the V or mA that the charger is providing is interfering with the operation of the capacitive sensor buttons. There's no real proof of this though, other than just empirical evidence.

The wall charger for the ATT Tilt works.

The Wal Mart brand car charger for the Motorola razor works too.

Great thread!

I'm currently using 'Apple USB Power Adapter' with no problem.

Bought this one and indeed it works fine for me too straight from the box (preformatted by Sandisk).

USB Charger (plug for European outlets): I use a König IPD-POWER30 and am very pleased with it. It works fine - I tested for possible issues with the capacitive buttons - was very affordable (EUR 6.95 at a local store), is small and sturdy and seems very energy efficient too. (The label says it takes just 0.1A from the mains and the charger stays cool while charging.) It charges my DR1000 in just under 3hrs (empty to full), same as when connected to a PC.

SDHC32GB

I got 32GB SDHC Class 6 from ebay for 39.95$

No info other than 32GB SDHC SD Memory Card Secure Digital 32Go

It works fine for DR1000S

230V×0.1A=23W, doesn't sound very energy efficient to me. But if it stays cool as you say, the real current draw is probably much less.

I think such a label must indicate the maximum current drawn at any given time. Indeed the average must be far below that for it to deserve the judgement "efficient". It's the not feeling any warmt that made me say that. For comparison: my Siemens AL280 DECT phone claims in its specs to use only 1.3W on standby, but it's enough to make the battery area feel warm to the touch (apparently from needless overcharging).

Another USB charger: hama mp3 travel charger with USB Port 00014056. No cable included, two leds, green while plugged in, red while charging.

It is easy to recognize it because it is very ugly :-) Picture here: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

Almost everything works -- writing with stylus, buttons, etc. I was unable to turn the device on after auto-shutdown while charging. I have to stop charging, boot it up, and then start charging again. But since DR1000 has many similar quirks it could be DR1000 bug as well.

Cheers,
