Library borrowing/returning
Hey folks, first post. Have looked and searched and still couldn't find an answer. Is there any way to borrow and/or return library books from a public library in Calibre? If yes, how? If no, am I stuck w/the Sony software to accomplish this task?

You cannot borrow/return library eBooks using Calibre. But you ADE instead of the Sony software if you prefer.

Thank you for the fast response! You answered my question, but confused me w/the "ADE". Explain, please.

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). Your library probably has on-line links to a how-to. You need to install ADE on your PC first and "register" your e-reader with it. Then borrow (download) a book from library to PC. Then transfer the book from PC to your e-reader.

You might find this thread useful. I have a Sony too, and regularly use it for library borrowing. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=163145

Careful. When your library gives you a link to download, it's not the book, it's a ticket to get the book. You click on the library's "download" link and then instead of saving the file (it's a .acsm file) to your computer, you should OPEN it, and this will cause the book to be downloaded to ADE.

Very good point! I keep forgetting to do that, and save it, then have to hunt it out again to open the actual book. It all seems an unnecessarily complicated method of download.

Be sure to use the same email and password for your Adobe Digital editions as you used to set up the Adobe account in your Sony Reader. That way you can transfer books back and forth. Also, when you click "open" on a library book it should open the Sony software and automatically load the book into your Sony Library -- at least that's how mine works -- or it will load into your ADE if you have your computer set up that way.
Good luck, have fun, and remember it's only complicated the first few times you do it. After that it's routine! |

But since you have a T1, you can bypass your computer completely and download library books directly to the device over WiFi. Use the library button on the second home page.

Is there any chance that the Sony Android tablets will get the "direct library connection" feature?

It's rather limited though, because it can only download EPUB ebooks and MP3 audiobooks. It can't download Kindle, PDF, WMA audiobooks, WMA music, and WMV videos.

I understood the question as 'Will the tablet have the same functionality as the T1?' |
