PRS-300 Sony PRS-300... PROBLEMS... HELP

Hey there. I have a Hot Pink Sony PRS-300, the pocket edition. Its a couple years old but hasn't barely been used. I think its completely dead. When i connect it to the computer to charge it the computer says that it is not recognized and the device malfunctioned. It also will say its charging(red light) but it wont charge it. As soon as you disconnect it says !No Battery!

Any thoughts? Help... Is it toast?

Battery might be dead,
but try a PSP-stype mains-charger (the one with the yellow barrel tip) and charge for at least 12 hours.

How long did you try to charge via USB? It will take several hours (6 or more), and if your computer goes to sleep during the charge cycle, it will actually drain the battery vs. charge it.

I agree with using a USB charging adapter, and charging it in a wall outlet. 3 or 4 hours should be sufficient, but charging it longer won't hurt it.

On youtube there is a vid showing how to change change the battery of the PRS-300. In youtube search using prs-300 battery. It has the name of the website that sells the batteries ($25).
