Factory Reset!
Has anyone done a factory reset? It is my understanding that when a factory reset is done, everything on my PE will be "erased" if it is not saved to my SD card. So, when I completed the factory reset, everything (I mean, EVERYTHING!!) is still there! What the heck! That stupid Executive Assistant is ruining my life! Any suggestions on what to do next? Tech support told me to update my system (although I already have the most up to date program running). I will do it if I need to but it kinda seems like a waste of time...

Hi Sammie,
I've never done this myself, but the Factory Data Reset is supposed to wipe the device (at least for the full-sized EE). Did the PE reboot after it was done? Did you migrate your library to an SD card? Could you try the reset again? Sorry I can't be more helpful... |

I saved my library to the SD card. I think I will try it again. I'm getting frustrated. Sorry. Thanks for trying.

Did you save your data to the SD before or after the reset? If before, you should still see all of your data as the factory reset only erases internal storage.
Good luck with the second try, and let us know how it goes. |

I saved it before the reset.

Then I would expect the data to still be there even after the factory reset. As I mentioned, the reset only deletes the internal storage... not stuff on an SD card. So, maybe the reset worked!

Then how do I go about clearing things off of my SD card? This may be a common sense question, but I am at a loss. I think I may have a virus from installing Executive Assistant. But I'm not sure yet.

You can pop your SD card into any computer format it. I don't recall if the EE has a format function for the card. If you're really worried, you could simply purchase a new SD card.
Hope that helps. |

Hi Sammie, I've been running Executive Assistant on my phone, and my edge, for months. To my understanding there are no true viruses for Android - yet - although a couple of games have been tagged as Trojans, and those are coming from Chinese app markets. http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Security/Ne...ations-717465/ and here http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-20026804-83.html
What problem are you having with the app? Here is a link to the developers web page, maybe they can assist. http://www.appventive.com/executive-assistant Last edited by cheyennedonna; 01-18-2011 at 09:44 PM. |
