No. I leave the headings, footnotes, blockquotes etc. alone, or adjust them if they're too small/too large. I only use the standard 1em size for body font.

Or even 6-7em spacing... Seems to be the latest rage in self-published books. Why am I supposed to stare at those enormous white swathes each chapter eludes me. Possibly they're meant to induce relaxation and mindfulness.

Won't that mess up the proportional size between the body and everything else? If the body is e.g. small and block quotes are verysmall, then changing the body to medium without changing the block quotes will result in extra dinky block quotes compared to the body (or smaller than usual headings, if you don't increase the heading size to correspond with the increased body size).

I do make the font sizes the same. I don't like when there are varying font sizes. The only page that I use a small font size is the copyright page so that stays on one screen.

And another thing that gets edited is the 7% text indents when converting a Kindle eBook to ePub. It's too large on a 7" screen. Just imaging how much larger 7% indents are on a 10.3 " screen.

ALL text-indents other than 0 get changed to 1em by me, always and without exception. I can't stand larger indents than that.

Good idea with the kobopatch.yaml file - I didn't use it this time, but will do so next time as it will make future updates much easier (I currently use the Compare plugin in Notepad++ to compare my previous .yaml files against the newest one, which is a pain!) |
