iBooks dictionary phonetics explained?

I have googled for explanation of phonetics transcriptions used in the dictionary. I am used to IPA symbols - International Phonetics Alphabet.

Well, the unfamiliar symbols used in iBooks dictionary slowly makes a bit of sense to me but I would like to have it explained. I use the phonetics because I am not native speaker. Have you seen it somewhere? Maybe it was used and explained long time ago in another dictionary?
