Calibre doesn't see my Kindle7 at times
Sometimes it does, sometimes it will not. Restarting Calibre doesn't help. However it always connects to Calibre via USB. I've read the sticky in the Calibre forum which doesn't help. Any ideas?

CLARITY HELPS
for a wired connection: Start with: does windows see and show the device. ? if not, then obviously calibre will not see it eitiher. say what windows version you have and what ports , cables , other troubleshooting you have tried IF it is visible in windows but not in calibre, then say that, and say what calibre version you have a kindle 7 is an e-ink device which cannot run calibre companion so why are you posting here if you have a fire tablet, say so , and say what model, amazon have sold many different 7 inch fire tablets over the last 6 years... and they stopped calling them Kindles several years ago |

1. there is no " of course" about it
the forum is full of issues where windows fails to see a device at the other end of a conencted cable. mostly Kobo, but can happen with Amazon tablets also. 2. so you have a fire tablet, not a kinlde. that is progress. if you now narrow it down to problem with connecting to content server vs problem with connecting as a wireless deivce vs problems with both options, that will help others to help you when you connect to content server it is not calibre that does the "seeing". it is the app on the device that tries to "see" a server. assuming you have already checked that you have given correct info on the app preferences screen, then there is a log on the device what you can access and send to the developer... |

I completely disagree with each of your statements, and object to you moving the post. Goodbye.

For the record I have not moved any posts. I am not an admin/mod and do not have that power.
An earlier version of the "goodbye" post did not include that objection. Here ends my attempts to clarify. Back to the champions League stream... |

What fails? Is this a CC problem? A calibre content server problem? Something else?

I don't know but don't think it's CC. It happens randomly and sometimes several times in a row. It can be wireless or content server (when one fails I try the other and sometimes it succeeds but not always.)

That smells like network problems, which are close to impossible to debug. It can be silly things such as the microwave running or someone using a cordless DECT phone when you try to connect. If you live in a flat then it could be a neighbour's router sharing a channel with yours.
