Question Download & Transfer via USB stopped working in Chrome
Download and Transfer via Usb has been working really well with my 4th generation kindle
However this morning Chrome won't download books.

A little box pops up at bottom left hand corner and says waiting for download or waiting for code

Cant read any more of it as it disapears.

Reinstalled chrome no change
Any ideas?

Try creating a default profile in Chrome and see if maybe one of your plugins is causing the problem. Add blockers and privacy guards are known to cause problems sometimes.

Strange because it was fine last night A box came up after I tried to download the book that said keep
I clicked on it and it downloaded the book.

How do I create a default profile? There is only me that uses my pc

I have this problem as well, as of this morning. Last night it worked fine in Chrome; this morning, the download never starts. I tried it in Edge and in Safari and it works fine in those browsers, just not in Chrome. I even tried it with a new profile and got the same thing (empty profile, no plugins).

Seems like Amazon changed something on their back end that Chrome doesn't like, perhaps?

An alternate answer is that Chrome updated and the update broke allowing Download and Transfer via USB to work.

I had problem downloading books from Amazon on my Mac using Chrome a few weeks ago. I found that if you click on the lock on the Contents and Devices page and "allow" insecure content, it downloads the book normally. You might try that and see if it works for you.

The Amazon Content and Devices webpage uses JavaScript to initiate downloads instead of you actually clicking on a link that downloads the file directly. Google made a change in Chrome so that it considers that type of download to be insecure. The concern is that a malicious website might deliver files to you that you have not asked for.

Yes, leave it like that. Amazon is a safe site with respect to downloads.

The is a separate setting for each website, so allowing this for Amazon will not open your browser to to this sort of download from anywhere else.
