search books in calibre 5.2

Good afternoon
Yesterday I updated my calibre application to version 5.2 (from 4.13). I noticed that no matter what I try, the "search/find" function does not work any more. Regardless of what I enter, I ALWAYS get ONE result when there should be at least 50 or so - not even necessarily related to the search topic.
This did work without any problem in the pervious version.
Is this a bug - or am I missing something very important here.

Hum, I'm running 5.1 and the search works fine. You might want to check in the Calibre forum since that's where the author of Calibre hangs out.

I am surprised a MOD has not already moved the posting to the Calibre Forum. Perhaps they are too busy "Rockin".

Not sure what is happening but I'm running 5.2 and when I do a search from the search box, I get multiple results. As an example, when I type form in the search box and click on the search icon, it gives me 1200 hits or about 10% of the books in that library. Searching on author, title, series or tags from the gear wheel gives the expected number of results. If you go into Library maintenance and check library, do the results look normal? No errors in the database and files in the library match the information in the database?

Exactly what are you typing into the search bar
or are you using Advanced search?

Is your result a highlighted item in a sea of titles?
Your search mode got flipped. Preferences: searching: remove the tick on Highlight

Sorry, I am new to THIS forum and being by now rather old / old-fashioned, I could not see the Calibre forum and just discovered it now. Is there a way *** I *** can move my question there, or would it be permissible to ask the same question there. I recall reading among the forum rules that one should NOT post the same question in multiple locations.

Do not worry about it. The Moderators have already moved it to the Calibre Forum. In any case it is a newbie mistake and we were all newbies once.

Just keep checking this forum and read all the posts in it. You may get asked for further information to help diagnose the problem,

Also it helps when asking for help to say what operating system you are using (Windows7, windows 10, linux etc)

You may also be asked to try certain things to gather more info.

The people on these forums are usually always willing to help someone who is polite and willing to learn no matter how old fashioned they are.

Good evening.
Sorry for my tardyness. I installed 5.2 on a Windows 10 machine - that is where the problem arose. On a note PC running Windows 7 I was told, Calibre does not support that OS any longer. There it is Version 4.15 (I think). That one is also installed on the Windows 10 machine at my work place. On a Linux Mint 19 machine it its Version 4.13.
On my Windows 10 machine at home (the problem machine) I just installed the 64-bit version over the previously installed 32-bit version. No change.
I do not really "use" calibre, but have it installed on my different computers for years, update it regularly and never experienced any problem with "searching" for books.
I just disabled the antivirus software to see, whether that does do something. It does not.

I just turned of "highlight search results" (although the results were not highlighted). This seems to have improved (solved?) the problem.

So, please consider my question being answered = problem solved.
I might be asking more questions later. Please bear with me.
