Doesn't boot my reader.
Hi,
I searched through the topics but I can't find any similar thing like I have with my reader. It is not booting. It doesn't do anything. Even the opening book screen doesn't show up. Only the orange light blinking nothing else. It is just stopped working... One of my friend used my reader when it happened. She just looked my books and wanted to open one when the screen freeze and the reader didn't respond anymore. The light blinked red so I thought the battery was depleted (but it was charged one day ago). I pluged the usb cable to my pc and it started to charge but the reader didn't boot up. I tried to reset and turn it on but nothing happened. I tried to take out the micro sd card and turn it on, nothing. When I took back the micro sd card the card readers light didn't even blink. So I don't know what to do now. I can't do anything without the opening book screen. I cant use rescue image or anything else... My reader is rooted with rupor's amr package. It has 1.05 firmware. The strange is that before this is happened for a couple of months I used my reader only for reading books. I didn't play with it, I didn't install any new apps or anything else, just reading. So nothing changed in the last 3-4 months. Is there anything I can do to repair my reader or it is completely dead and no hope? ![]() Last edited by Nabuccoo; 12-28-2013 at 05:08 PM. |

I had a very similar problem well pretty much identical froze like that as I was using it, I had it replaced unfortunately and found no solution that would work, for the record mine wasn't rooted.

estecb, thank you for your reply but my problem is at the first step you wrote your manual:
"1_ Use rupor-rescue.7z (the MENU + HOME method) to enter the recovery mode." I can't enter to recovery mode because my reader doesn't start to load. No opening book screen at all. ![]() |

can you not connect it to a PC & run Sony firmware installer - that may do something ?
can your PC see it, as a removable drive , onto which you can copy stuff , or which you can format? |

No unfortunatelly nothing. When I connect it to pc just the orange light is blinking so it is chargeing but no recognized removable drive or anything else. :/ Thats the problem.

(It is also possible that a continuous orange blinking light is also used as a service indicator of other problems.) |

Hmm you are right, when I plug it in I have the red light and at the same time the orange light is blinking to. After some minutes the red light stops and just the orange blinking. And there is a light near the memory card reader too. This is not working at all. So the device does not accessing the memory card ---> no chance to use sd card recovery too. :/

take out the SD card & test that in another device. maybe the SD card has died & the reader is unable to boot while there is an unrecognised card in the slot. (an SD card can fail at any time with no warning & become junk )
(It's more likely though that the whole thing is bricked; the real question then becomes how many hours do you want to spend trying to repair when you could get a cheap replacement from ebay instead ??? |

First, turn off your reader (press and hold the reset button for a while and wait until the orange light stops blinking), then power on your reader while holding MENU + HOME buttons (keep holding those buttons for a while). If it doesn't read the SD card, I think there is no way to fix it.
