Question Do you think the 1.5 update was worth the wait?

Ok so I've added a couple shelves to my Nook (ie: Library, etc) and the pages do seem to turn faster. But I am wondering if the wait for the 1.5 update was worth it? What do you think?

the synching across multiple devices is great.

They needed to do something about organization, that was the one thing they really needed addressed. I like what they did with "My shelves"

Page turning? ehh sure it's nice but it wasn't slow after 1.3 to begin with, I think it was just to shut up the whole kooky Kindlebot crowd who kept chest thumping that the kindle changed pages a whole 1/100000 of a second faster.

so overall I say it was a great update, a much needed update on some features and really makes the nook a very well rounded ereader.

I'd like to append to the original post and add a second question: "if no, why?".

If you look at 1.5 suggestion threads there's 1000 posts and each poster wanted something different, and to me I can easily live without 99% of those suggestions. Page turning is very nice, any improvement is always nice. I would much rather have overall system performance increase though (by updating to newer android), not just turning pages.

I also would like to see Nook SDK (for nook "classic" so there's no confusion) like promised, so that third party developers can develop their apps. It is possible to do that now through softroot, but it would be nice if it was official so that third party companies, not just anonymous individuals, could join the process.

And to continue in the pessimistic tone, judging by frequency of updates, I wonder if we'll ever see 1.6 update.

Luckily the nookdevs community is still pretty active.

Yes, it solved the last of the issues I had with the nook. The shelves and better author sort for my files was a much needed fix and the faster page turns is excellent.

The faster page turns are nice, but all in all, it was a disappointing update. Shelves were the most disappointing feature, especially as they can't be set up on the desktop. I don't care at all about syncing between devices because I only use the Nook. And I'm still upset that we can't transfer notes and annotations off the device. To me, there was nothing really useful about the update.

Hard to be disappointed about waiting for something that is FREE. I wish I could sync annotations and bookmarks between nook PC and nook, but I'm not at all disappointed in noticeably faster page turns and shelves.
