Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
I just loved this book. It was hard to get through, but once I got through I couldn't stop thinking about the characters. Quite unusual for me, as I usually read in bed and usually couldn't tell you the plot of a book I read a month before. There are two books that have stuck with me - Behind Closed Doors, and The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz.

I listened to the audiobook version of Behind Closed Doors, which was well-done. I was engrossed in the story as I listened, but the plot was mostly familiar--I read an overabundance of books in this genre--and the villain of the piece bordered on being a caricature. I don't give star ratings to books, but if I did, I'd probably put this one at about a 3.5 out of 5.
