Why do people have to do so much work to be able to read on a Kobo? I can understand if someone needed extra, extra large font or a font that is easier to read for dyslexics. Do people just like to tinker on the technology? All I know is Nooks, Kindles, and Samsung tablets with Nook and Kindle apps. I have never sideloaded anything. At this point, a Boox might be a lot easier. I was hoping this thread would be for newbies. I will read the wiki next. I have not given up on having a Kobo yet. You won't have to do any of that. A Kobo device works just fine right out of the box. All the tips, tricks, patches and so on are not necessary to read a book; they're just a bonus for those who like to tinker with their devices.

As for deciding whether a Kobo is right for you, perhaps the Which one should I buy? forum would be of more help. |

Note that the full manual for the kobo is also available, and the tips and tricks page was meant to cover stuff not in there. |

I think the manual is loaded on the device by default. It should be like your first book in the device or something.
You might also find documentation under more -> help Last edited by compurandom; 11-25-2024 at 12:51 AM. |

You don't have to do any of this. Just put a book on it and read. If you'd like to make tweaks, there are plenty available, but none of them are necessary.

Also note that you don't need to use Calibre, either. You can just sync your books over Wi-Fi and start reading. This thread is for people who are very picky, which it sounds like you aren't, and that's fine.

Going by the OP's previous posts, they have a lot of Nook ebooks in Calibre, which I presume they want to read on their Kobo.

I hate to say but like so many modern devices / applications the best way of learning is to push buttons, touch screens, see what happens ![]() |

I found the manual on Guido's eReader table though. I finally got my hands on a Kobo Sage. Last edited by pypeke; 11-25-2024 at 12:20 PM. |
