Kindle Mobi format will not open in Calibre

Apologies if this is the wrong place for this post.

I have a Windows 10 PC with Kindle for PC 1.17.0(44170) on.

Previously I have downloaded my books, imported them into Calibre and been able to use them without issue.

Today I have tried the same with a 40Mb file and it is being seen as a mobi file by Calibre that will not open.

I have tried converting to epub, fails to convert, azw3 and mobi. In the last two I can see the cover but the remainder of the book is complete gibberish.

I suspect it's a new DRM measure?

If I click on the imported mobi file 'as is' it will open the cover after a lengthy wait and then refuses to open the remainder of the book.

The errors are:

calibre, version 5.36.0
ERROR: Conversion failed:
Failed to convert: The Art of Electronics

Many older e-book reader devices are incapable of displaying
EPUB files that have internal components over a certain size.
Therefore, when converting to EPUB, calibre automatically tries
to split up the EPUB into smaller sized pieces. For some
files that are large undifferentiated blocks of text, this
splitting fails.

You can work around the problem by either increasing the
maximum split size under EPUB output in the conversion dialog,
or by turning on Heuristic processing, also in the conversion
dialog. Note that if you make the maximum split size too large,
your e-book reader may have trouble with the EPUB.

That problem is caused by a bug in the DRM removal plugin. It fails to detect when a MOBI file contains PDF content (AZW4 format).

You can work around the problem by installing the KindleUnpack plugin for calibre. Select the book entry in calibre and use the "Extract PDF" function of KindleUnpack to obtain the embedded PDF.
