But, no. Not really 1-1 with Tunisia at half-time. We looked good at times, but gave away a bad penalty. Last edited by Bilbo1967; 06-18-2018 at 02:59 PM. |

Well. England made hard work of that, but a win is a win. Not the confidence boosting win I'd have like to have seen though.

Belgium, with a better manager, could be world beaters but I don't think they will be.
England will not be world beaters, but it is nice for me to go to bed tonight having watched us get a deserved win. Mind you, the use/non-use of VAR tonight is not helping my paranoia that the officials have been against ever since we had a nice Russian linesman in 1966. |

England will get out of the group. Anything after that is a bonus.
I agree that the VAR seems to turn a blind eye when dealing with England. I haven't seen anything that blatant being missed previously. And the ref made a diving motion for the second one! Expecting Panama to field Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker as their centre backs on Sunday. |

Harry Maguire isn't exactly ballet like himself... Is it me or does anyone else think that there is a bathroom missing a plumber when he is on screen?

By why Ashley Young over Danny Rose? Young was a fright. Sterling, for all the fuss about him recently, did not really show up. And everyone was so eager to complain about the midges, even after they won. As if they only attacked the fragile English skin... The minute by minute report actually said "Gareth the Galoot must go" in the 89th minute.
England looked pretty dire most of that match save for some luck from Harry Fraud. (Still not over his swearing on his own child over the stupid golden boot race). They might well get out of group, but my hope is not high beyond that. |

I think that the general thought was that Young had a better season than Rose. But you're correct, Young wasn't great.
In general, I thought the England team played really well for the first 20 minutes or so and then reverted to type. Harry Kane, despite the two goals, looked strangely sluggish for long periods of the game and Sterling was poor - Rashford looked like an upgrade when he came on. Loftus-Cheek also looked good when he came on, but how much of his and Rashford's good performance was due to coming on against tired opponents is a bit of an unknown. They mentioned the midges, but I hadn't heard it used as an excuse. It wouldn't surprise me though - modern footballers are nothing if not precious flowers! |

Rose hopefully will be match fit for the weekend. fed up of Young messing up a quick attack by stopping to put the ball onto his right foot. Rose would just motor on and put a cross in.
I think Loftus-Cheek can do the biz in the middle of the park. I would drop Walker and put in Dier, and have him just forward of the back two. then have a central midfield of Henderson and Loftus-Cheek. But only against Panama... Belgium will be a different matter! |
