24 hours to fail
i only had my Kindle 4 NT SO for 24 hours when it decided to stop working. the screen went dark and it would not present as a USB drive - the Kindle would be recognized by the computer but it would not show the contents of the drive.
ran to the retailer, exchanged it, and now i'm back to having a smile this was a fluke, right? |

Sounds like you got a defective unit. My first one had screen issues but Amazon sent an overnight replacement and I've had that one since October and it's still going strong.
No worries though because Amazon will make it right. They have the best customer service. |

One thing to watch out for with new Kindles is BATTERY. Make SURE you give your brand new Kindle a full charge before you do much with it. And don't let the charge get below 30-40% at any time. Now, even with the wireless on, that's still a couple of days of use, but things can get iffy when the battery gets depleted.

Yes, fluke. There's going to be lemons no matter what...but they're few and far between. If you manage to land a second dud, I suggest you avoid casino games.

i'm not a betting person, but i think odds are good it was just a fluke. the replacement is sitting here consuming a stream of ones and zeros from Amazon preparing for my evening's reading.

a ton of these would be a huge number - they weigh next to nothing, much lighter than my iPhone 4
