Das Computermagazin "neues" auf 3sat hat für kommenden Sonntag 16:30 Uhr anlässlich der Buchmesse einen Beitrag über Ebooks angekündigt. Möglicherweise gibt es auch etwas von der Messe zu sehen.

Wer die Sendung nicht kennt: Die Beiträge sind zwar für das breite Publikum gemacht, aber meist recht gut recherchiert. Teilweise werden auch Experten ins Studio geladen.

seltsam fand ich die Aussage von Peter Kraus vom Cleff, Geschäftsführer Rowolth.

"Das was im Moment die eInk Reader bieten, eine sehr angenehme, aber nur schwarz / weiß zu lesende Schrift, das wird es auf Dauer nicht sein..."

OK, für den, blödsinnigen und für einen Roman völlig unwichtigen, Multimediakram mag das ja stimmen. Aber nicht für ein "gutes Buch". Da reicht schwarz / weiß immer aus. Wäre es anders, wären die heutigen Bücher viel bunter...
Wobei mir gerade "Die unendliche Geschichte" von Michael Ende einfällt. Dort war der Druck in rot und grün sehr hilfreich. Aber das könnte man auch z.B. mit unterschiedlicher Schriftart erreichen.

Das ergäbe dann aber eine völlig andere Typografie. Hätte Ende das so gewollt, hätte man auch damals schon zwei Schriftarten nehmen können. Und was machst du mit Readern, die dich auf eine Schriftart pro eBook zwingen?

von Cleff hat schon Recht; auf lange Sicht wird/muss es auf ein Display hinauslaufen, das so augenfreundlich ist wie eInk und so farbbrillant wie LCD. Einfach, damit man sich als Verlag keine Gedanken mehr um die optische Umsetzung machen muss.

Wer ein Kochbuch von 1960 und eines von 2010 vergleicht, erkennt, was er meint. Oder ein Magazin wie National Geographic. Oder eine Enzyklopädie (Wikipedia hin oder her).

Oder hältst du illustrierte Kinderbücher in Schwarzweiß (Haltbarkeit des Lesegeräts ist mal ein anderes Thema) für der Weisheit letzter Schluss?

Belletristik-Romane stellen gerade mal ein Segment in der Verlagslandschaft dar. Das sollte man bei diesen ganzen Überlegungen nicht vergessen. Das Gros der gedruckten Publikationen verwendet seit Jahrzehnten im Innenteil Farbe.

Hi,

nein, illustrierte Kinderbücher sind in Farbe besser. Ob sie aber unbedingt auf einem eReader veröffentlicht werden müssen ist ein anderes Thema.

Ein LTB auf dem eReader macht auch nur Spaß, wenn man Donald und seine Neffen in Farbe sehen würde, aber ich will nicht Gleichzeitig sein Geschnatter hören!

Denn:
Klar müssen die Verlage an die Zukunft denken. Aber so wie sich das im Moment anhört, denken die doch eher an Video- und Audiozugaben in Belletristik und begründen damit ein angeblich erforderliches Farbdisplay.

Farbe auf dem eReader birgt halt die Gefahr, dass die Verlage mehr in die Bücher stecken als nötig. Irgendwann kommt dann noch eine Kamera dazu und dann ist es ganz vorbei mit "einfach nur lesen".

Dem kann ich mich nur anschließen.
Werbesendung für Apple, Sony, Amazon und dann doch wieder Apple und einige Verlage. Mit "Ebooks" hatte das ganze gar nichts mehr zu tun.

Zeitungen - schön das es dafür einen "App" gibt. Toll.
Anstatt sie mal die großen Reader zeigen, der DX von Amazon wird nur für 2 Sekunden erwähnt. Keine Fachbücher, keine Text to Speach Funktion.
...hätten sie auch Dauerwerbesendung oben drüber schreiben können.

Farbe wird und muss kommen. Ganz sicher. Aber nur, wenn sie genauso stromsparend umsetzbar ist wie aktuelle eInk-Displays. Video & Co sind für BÜCHER wohl eher verzichtbar. Auch wenn einige Verlage darin aktuell offenbar eine Zukunft sehen.

Ja, das glaube ich auch. Zusätzlich muß das Farbdisplay aber auch reflektiv sein, damit man den Reader auch draußen verwenden kann.

Inhalte durch farbige Schrift zu transportieren halte ich nicht für sinnvoll. Zumindest geht einem Farbenblinden Information verloren. Dann besser mit anderer Schriftart. Für Bilder ist Farbe schon sinnvoll.
Ach übrigens: Vielen Kindern macht es ja auch Spaß, monochrome Comix auszumalen. Viel Vergnügen beim Reinigen des Reader-Displays !

Muß nicht. Eink- Technologie oder etwas Ähnliches geht auch.
