Unhappy unbricking a Kindle (framework won't start)

I accidentally screwed up the start.sh script which starts the main Kindle app. The script is written in such a way that it tries to restart the app a few times then reboots. After a few reboots I get the "Your Kindle Needs Repair" screen.

I have the correct copy of the file and all I need is copy it over to correct my mistake but I can no longer get into the USB shell. Is there a way I can enable usbNetwork while in recovery mode or something like that?

I don't have the anti-brick hack (alas).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

It just enumerates as mass storage, just as if kindle was working. I.e. you see the /mnt/us in the "Kindle" drive that shows up on the PC

Have you tried by holding the On/Off switch for 15 secs or more??
It is supposed to reset the kindle.
Try it if you have not tried it before.

Thanks, I will try that, though I doubt that will help since I overwrote a file in the main OS partition...

I wonder if i can just make a small package that will revert my change. Does the Kindle pick up update packages on every reboot?

If you re-post in the sub-forum "Kindle Developer's Corner" - someone can probably send you a copy of your corrupted file.

It sounds like you did something very similiar to what I did.

If you follow the thread, you should be able to follow the directions. It does take some doing so allot about an hour for the whole process.
