That's odd. I clicked 'copy to clipboard' and pasted it into a text file. 'Show details' shows the same. Run it again, with same result. I decided to check it in another laptop, it's the same there too. Abrupt end in the log file, at the same line.

epub to epub converts fine (is it even converting?), but to pdf throws up this error.

I am using Windows 10 on both laptops. Genuine. Can't dual boot cause i am running low on space and i do not have any other pc to test on. Just these two laptops.

Is there any way to find a solution? I need to convert a bunch of files, will calibre work from something like a tiny version of linux installed on a usb drive or something?

Please let me know if you need any other information to help diagnose this error.

The file converts to mobi, and azw3 without any problems whatsoever. Pdf is the exception for some reason. Odd.

Another oddity. The calibre quick start guide converts fine to pdf! So, is it safe to assume my epub file is the odd one? Then, is there any reason the conversion is working for you but, failing for me? font issues etc?
Sorry for these quick posts.

You can run it in a console as

ebook-convert file.epub .pdf

that might give you a better error message.

Hmm those errors are coming from insiide Qt, I dont see anything in the calibre code that calls into Qt that could cause them. I suggest you convert this particular file on a linux box, as trying to track down the cause of this is not going to be easy...

Update. Running ubuntu in virtualbox. Calibre works flawlessly. You can close this thread now. Hopefully, issues with windows 10 will be solved one day too. Thank you for your time and the awesome program. Bye.
