Problem generating catalog - help! ><
Hello!
For some reason a few days ago I started having trouble generating ePub catalogs in Calibre. This happened after I left it running overnight to create a particularly big catalog. Previously I just made separate catalogs for each author in small bunches. Does anyone know how I can fix this?? Thanks in advance!!! ^^ Error details below: "calibre, version 0.8.57 ERROR: Conversion Error: <b>Failed</b>: Generate catalog Generate catalog Python function terminated unexpectedly: Zipfile size would require ZIP64 extensions Sections: Descriptions Catalog_EPUB_MOBI(): Generating epub for nook in GUI environment connected_device: 'The Nook' #3022xxxxxxxxxxxx mount point: /Volumes/NOOK/My Files mount point: /Volumes/32 GB/ book count: 8 opts: authorClip: 100 catalog_title: u'Marliss Melton Catalog' connected_kindle: False descriptionClip: 380 exclude_book_marker: u':' exclude_genre: u'\\[[\\w ]*\\]' exclude_tags: u'~,Catalog' header_note_source_field: '' merge_comments: '::True' output_profile: 'nook' read_book_marker: u'tag:+' search_text: None sort_by: None sort_descriptions_by_author: True sync: True thumb_width: u'1.00' wishlist_tag: u'Wishlist' existing thumb cache at /Users/Teresa/Library/Preferences/calibre/caches/catalog/thumbs.zip, cached_thumb_width: 1.00" Begin catalog source generation DPI = 167; thumbnail dimensions: 167 x 222 *** Invalid cover file for 'Don't Let Go'*** using default cover for 'Don't Let Go' (22094) Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Applications/calibre.app/Contents/Resources/Python/lib/python2.7/site.py", line 147, in main return run_entry_point() File "/Applications/calibre.app/Contents/Resources/Python/lib/python2.7/site.py", line 116, in run_entry_point return getattr(pmod, func)() File "site-packages/calibre/utils/ipc/worker.py", line 191, in main File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/convert/gui_conversion.py", line 68, in gui_catalog File "site-packages/calibre/library/catalogs/epub_mobi.py", line 306, in run File "site-packages/calibre/library/catalogs/epub_mobi_builder.py", line 487, in buildSources File "site-packages/calibre/library/catalogs/epub_mobi_builder.py", line 2049, in generateThumbnails File "site-packages/calibre/library/catalogs/epub_mobi_builder.py", line 3823, in generateThumbnail File "site-packages/calibre/utils/zipfile.py", line 1281, in writestr File "site-packages/calibre/utils/zipfile.py", line 1172, in _writecheck calibre.utils.zipfile.LargeZipFile: Zipfile size would require ZIP64 extensions" |

The error indicates that the size of the compressed file used to store the cover thumbnails would be too large to fit in a 32-bit space. That's a *very* large catalog. Performance would be slow to sluggish, if you could load it at all.
How many books are you trying to catalog? You can try reducing the size of the thumbnails, eliminating the thumbnails, or (more sensibly) go back to building smaller catalogs of sections of your collection. G |

Thanks for the reply! Actually, I have been trying to catalog a smaller number of books ever since trying to catalog the large # failed. The large # by the way was about a 180+ books or so... but now even when I try to catalog a few books or even one book I get the same error :/.

Actually, I just deleted the "thumbs.zip" file that was in "/Users/Teresa/Library/Preferences/calibre/caches/catalog/thumbs.zip" and when I tried generating a catalog again it worked! Yay!
Sorry about the trouble, and thanks for your reply and help! |

Problem generating Catalog
Hi,
I've seen that others have had this problem but the solution wasn't shown Here is the error log Spoiler:
I copied the library to another location but same error. I tried removing thumbs.zip to no effect. Clearly I have either bad data or bad fingers but I don't know where to look. Help ? Please ? TIA Last edited by GRiker; 07-20-2012 at 04:36 PM. Reason: Put log into a spoiler |

It appears that you removed the section of the log that might have contained some clues.
My best guess is that you have some tags/genres that are somehow causing problems. G |
