The Australian Sony Reader rumour mill

Went to a Sony Centre here today - apparently the salespeople are hoping the Sony Reader will be in stores here next year - hopefully - It was a good sign they knew what it was too!
Anyone got any other salacious tidbits to share?

Oh fantastic. If Sony start selling their readers here in Aus they'll open up their ebook store to us (with ease).

Good news (or at least rumour)! Which Sony Centre was that?

At present the Sony ebook store is for US and Canada only. I don't see that changing. In some countries they have a partnership with a large book retailer, but I don't think any of these are exclusive. In any case, any AdobeID ePub or PDF from any source will work.

There is a UK version of the Sony Software, but it redirects you to Waterstones or WHSmiths. If I was in the UK, I would use the US software because buying from Waterstones or WHSmiths is possible without the software and you then at a minimum have access to Google ePubs from the Sony ebook store.
