Nesbit, Edith: In Homespun (Short Story Collection). v1. 06 October 2015

In Homespun
by Edith Nesbit (1858–1924)
First published 1896.

The text of this book is in the public domain in countries where copyright is “Life+70” or less, and in the USA.

--------
Edith Nesbit Bland, English author and poet, published approximately 40 books for children under the name of E. Nesbit. Her innovative body of work influenced many subsequent fantasy writers. Nesbit’s reputation rests almost exclusively on her work for children, but she also wrote for adults. In addition to about a dozen novels for adults, she published many short stories.

One of Nesbit’s early collections of short stories for adults, this book presents ten little slices of life, describing incidents that have far-reaching consequences. Each of these tales is narrated in the first person, with an engagingly rustic turn of phrase that brings the characters to life.

--------
Text was obtained from the Victorian Women Writers Project at indiana.edu. Punctuation, diacritics, and italics have been formatted; some spelling and punctuation modernized/standardized. Chapter heads are cross-linked to in-line Table of Contents. Embedded fonts for titling and drop-caps.

---------
Hope you enjoy these.
