With what result?
Just to still have an Amazon closed source OS on the K3?

If you are looking to volunteer that much development work, better to volunteer it to the K-Tizen project.

That missing touch screen doesn't make any port attractive - at least that's my humble opinion. And as was said before - it probably won't be easy, since we're talking about a SoC processor core featuring a different ARM generation. Not sure if Amazon's software really uses its new features, but my guess is: yes, they probably do use a toolchain targeted at the newer CPU.
