epub from iBooks (dragged to finder)

Epub from iBooks (dragged to finder) do not open in calibre, but yes in devonthink. They are DRM free.

I cannot explain why...

Thanks!

Are you dragging an ePub file or a folder with the name of an ePub file? As far as I recall, Apple unzips the ePub on import.

There was a item on Reddit a few years back which might be helpful: How do I package files from iBooks (own files not DRM protected) so Calibre can read them and convert them to Mobi?

Things in iBooks that look like ePub are indeed actually folders. You'll need to zip them up first.

That Reddit article links back to MobileRead:

It doesn't matter what version of Books or iBooks on a Mac or the version of calibre. This behaviour has been noted for years. As you may notice, the date on the thread linked to by pdurrant and in which they were the OP, was started in September, 2009 and the Reddit I linked to is 4 years old.
