Braddon, M. E.: The Shadow in the Corner (collected ghosts). v1. 12 Nov 2020

THE SHADOW IN THE CORNER
and Other Hauntings

This is my own compilation. The contents were originally published 1860 ~ 1896.
The text of this book is in the public domain worldwide.

A collection of eerie stories by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, one of the most popular Victorian authors of “sensation” fiction. Thirteen ghost stories; and additionally, three mysteries (the final titles in the collection) with tendencies to “weird” fiction.

===================
Mary Elizabeth Braddon (4 October 1835 – 4 February 1915) was a popular English novelist of the Victorian era. Her prolific pen produced more than 80 novels with inventive plots. The most famous is Lady Audley’s Secret (1862), which won her recognition, and a fortune as a bestseller. It has remained in print since its publication and has been dramatized and filmed several times.

Braddon’s legacy is tied to the sensation fiction of the 1860s, but she also wrote a number of ghost stories, and the novel Gerard, or the World, the Flesh, and the Devil (1891), a “pact with the devil” story.
