Hello,
someone know if there is a way to automatic invert the name and surname of selected one or more files already in Calibre?

For author in the format: Surename, Name
Select books
Right click
Edit metadata
Edit metadata in Bulk
Search and replace
Search field: authors
Search for: ([^,]*), (.*)
Replace with: \2 \1
Search mode: Regular expression

Check results in preview
Click OK

Do not forget to make backup of the library before experimenting with bulk search-and-replace of metadata using Regular Expressions.

Do not hesitate to ask if you need deeper explanation.

thanks for your reply.
I would like to know if it's possible that, when I select one or more files, with authors like:
"John Wayne"
"John Ford"
.......
to have an option for to automatically change it/them in:
"Wayne, John"
"Ford, John"
.....
but, maybe, this is a question to pose to the programmers of this wonderful program...

Select books
Right click
Edit metadata
Edit metadata in Bulk

Be careful, I have not tested this Regular Expression.
It might not work properly for authors with three names.

The problem is that there's no way to get it right for all names, the result of which is that you have to manually check every name.

Eg, consider the British author Alexander McCall Smith. His surname is "McCall Smith", but there's no way any algorithm can know that - it's something that the user has to know, and adjust the metadata accordingly.

Do you really buy so many books that you can't simply edit the metadata as you add each book to Calibre?
