What do you think of the Libre ebook reader Pro?

I am going to buy an ebook reader for a friend and I seen this reader (the Libre) in my local Future shop. I am in a small town in canada and don't have a lot of choices. The clerk at Future Shop could give me no information on this reader except that that it was about 50$ cheaper than the sony 300. It also comes with an sd card slot. Has anyone used one of these? The girl I'm buying it for is just going to use it to read novels on so I don't need a lot of extra features.

I love my Libre so far and am happy with my choice of it. The Aluratek Libre Pro and the Ectaco Jetbook both use the same hardware, so people who have Libres post in the Ectaco Jetbook forum here, as PodPeople mentioned. The Libre and the Jetbook differ in the software that is loaded on them.

I chose the Libre because it had a better ebook format choice. It is fine for reading novels. It comes with a USB cord, an AC adapter, a 2GB SD card, earbuds, 100 books (from Project Gutenberg) preloaded, and a protective case. So you don't have to buy any other accessories with it, which is a plus.

I lurked on mobileread for about 6 months till I bought my first ereader and it was Aluratek Libre! Very happy with my decision.

The biggest difference between Libre and other ereaders is the screen, Libre uses a different technology screen than other ereaders. Looks wise, Libre screen is "greener" than other readers, to me it looks great!
Libre screen has the advantage that it can turn quicker. Disadvantage(to some, not me) is lower battery life, still Libre can be used for a few days real usage (20 hours total reading time) before recharging.

As it was mentioned in a post above, a nice plus (especially for a present) is that Libre comes with everything, you don't really need to buy any accessories for it.

I've had mone for a month or so and I like it....it might have a few quirks or it might just be me, but whatever those quirks are can't be to much of a problem cause I can't really think what they are at the moment...I find charging works best when you leave it to charge almost 24 hours and then it's like it crashes but no biggie just hit the reset button and start it up again.......for the price though it's a good little gadget that you can beat around a bit and not have to worry too much about......I do like the sreen though, if the sony's had a screen like that I probably would have got one of those and not bothered looking around for something else
