You need to index the PNGs in Nickel without filemon active. That means you can't go into Nickel from KSM because that'll always be with the file monitor noticing Nickel's trying to index them. Hence why the instructions say to do this before you install KSM at all, but you can easily do it afterward if you set KSM to boot into KSM only half the time.

You can put it back after Nickel has indexed the PNGs.

As long as the PNGs' thumbnails are shown in the Nickel's homepage, Nickel would not be started, unless through the "nofmn.sh". Therefore I have to keep the thumbnails away from home.

This is true. But you can also launch nickel by selecting "tools" > "nickel diverse.msh" > "start nickel no fmon.sh" to run nickel without fmon running. |

Sorry, tend not to use Nickel at all for very long stretches at a time so I forget about all of the available options. |

Also, if you remove a book from the new home screen, it will never come back.

Thank you for pointing at this. I understood eprahimpak's message to the effect that he has to undertake a continuous effort to keep the pngs away from the home screen. Now I think that I just misunderstood what he was saying, and that he somehow managed to removed them once from the home screen, and they are now gone for good.

Unfortunately there is currently no other way. I was thinking of overwriting one of the nickel functions that are accessible by a menu entry by an exit function in order to get rid of the fmon problem. But somehow I never started doing it. I was (and still am) even to lazy to try the kute file monitor.

There seems to be something wrong with the custom power off HTML file. I have tried to get the random power off screen script working and found out, that when i try to use any image, the poff test script opens it correctly, but when the device is powered off, it just shows the KSM menu like nothing happened, but shuts down. If i remove the image from the HTML code, it works correctly and the screen displays whatever text is inside the html. Or is it on purpose, that it doesn't accept images? I am not saying it might not be my error somewhere in the code, but the poff script and even my browser shows it correctly

Only those preloaded 1kb images do work. Still better then the "you can edit this text..." default power off message So, thanks for help , will keep on testing smaller images |

For my AuraHD I have the following:
<html> <head> <title>kobo menu info</title> <style type="image/png"> p { margin-top: 0.5em; } </style> </head> <body> <img src="/mnt/onboard/.adds/kbmenu/txt/poweroff.png"> </body> </html> For my "poweroff_info.html". The Poweroff.png is 1040x1387 bit depth 32, its 361KB. Works fine. The image was created using Gimp2 to fit the full screen. Luck; Ken Last edited by Ken Maltby; 07-02-2017 at 09:08 PM. |
