Princeton University Kindle Pilot Program

You may recall from last week that along with the product announcement Amazon said that 4 universities will be starting pilot programs this coming fall. One of those four will be Princeton University, and thanks to an inquisitive MR member we now know more about the program.

The Daily Princetonian was the first to report the story. There is also a project page up.

As currently planned, the pilot program will consist of 60 Kindle DXs, with about 50 given to students and 10 given to staff. The projected $30k cost will be paid by High Meadows Foundation, a Vermont philanthropic foundation.

The student users will be concentrated in certain courses. The courses won't be named until the end of the month because the University didn't want students to sign up simply to get a free KDX.

The discussion is continued over here. Kudos to MR member sirbruce for finding this story.
