Just read that Amazon will be releasing Kindle for webOs, which is the HP touchpad operating system. It looks like Skype will join the club releasing a Skype version for webOs but including video conference capabilities.
Here's a short demo:http://www.viddler.com/explore/engadget/videos/2478/ Last edited by jocampo; 02-09-2011 at 04:07 PM. Reason: Adding link to Video |

Nice picture, "coming Summer" is a pain in the neck... guess it's the usual, "Hurry up and wait..."

I had a Palm Pre with WebOS before moving to an Android phone. WebOS had some nice features like the card deck approach to multi tasking, but it was horribly immature, and the available apps were like a toy store. Perhaps HP will/has bring it up to speed, we shall see.

I've put off a new netbook purchase because I want to see what HP will do with WebOs for the PC.

Cool thing on this device, is your Veero or Pre can send data right to it, so you if you have a webpage open on your pre, you can send it to your tablet. Neat features like sharing calender and contact data.
I like the fact its gonna do wireless printing with the Zeus line of printers, be nice if HP made wireless printers that worked with this and the Apple Air printing. |

the QNX OS, now I am not familiar with the tablet version, but the QNX OS is just a wunderbar OS. first used it back in 1990 and we are talking disklaess 286 workstations booking from a bootrom on the NIC. But 8 virtual machines natively on that OLD 286 with 512KB RAM. No crashes, fast and just a joy to work with. Too bad Blackberry is likely to bugger the things it has been bringing to the table for over 20yrs now.

HP TouchPad (wonder how they came up with that name, lol...) looks nice. Wonder if they mean 'Summer' as in May, or 'Summer' as in September... Battery life would be good to know, along with price of course.
Favourite comment from the Engadget piece - "it's just a big Pre" |
