Epubs become .txt when downloaded to cellphones
I searched for this subject but didn't find one:
It was recently brought to my attention that an ePub file of mine, when downloaded onto a cellphone, was re-tagged to be a .txt file on the phone. I tried this with my Motorola Droid 3, and sure enough, the ebook tag changed from .epub to .txt. Interestingly, the file is still an epub; it still opened properly in Cool Reader, covers, formatting and all. Anyone have an idea why this happens, and if there is something I need to add to the container to prevent the tag change? |

Sounds like an issue with the cell phone changing the extension. Are you downloading off the internet through the web browser, or transferring with a USB cable? If through the web browser, possibly something in the settings is causing it to save everything with a .txt extension.

Agreed. I used the phone's web browser (came with the Android phone, "Browser v2.3.4"). Looking through the browser settings, there doesn't seem to be a control for that.
