Right now, I'm quite ambivalent about Chinese Maze Murders. |

Well, if it wins, I may not be reading it as I did not pick it up when it was free. It depends if I can get it from the library. It seems to be not all that popular.

I will be reading Storm Front whether it wins or not.
I won't be reading Chinese Maze, whether it wins or not. (I also willbe reading Bruno, but weknow that one won't win already!) |

Started Storm Front last night. Curiouser and curiouser; 7.5 chapters in and there are already 3 questions looking for answers. Plus, the characters are interesting.

I read several of the Judge Dee mysteries a long time ago. They're a fascinating look at another culture as well as good mysteries in themselves. I'm looking forward to revisiting him in any case. Free is good, too, especially when it's a book of quality.

How can I get 4 people to vote for Storm Front?
Can I trade Karma points? Or give away the ending to the ones who do not vote for it? |

Since the books I've voted for isn't going to win, let's give Storm Front the win. I've read it and I can say for sure that it is a good book.

WHAT?! Vote for a book you don't want instead of your favorite, because the book you want isn't going to win? I'm shocked, shocked, that anyone would do that.

I have an ulterior motive here. I don't want the Chinese one to win. Of all of them, that's the one I want to win the least.

Gee, voting because of ulterior motives. Again, I'm appalled. People are supposed to vote for their favorite and damn the consequences. Or so I've been told. And told. And told.

Yes, free is good. This book, however, isn't free.

It was free last month from the U. of Chicago, which in addition to its intrinsic appeal was one reason I nominated it. I figured a lot of people had picked it up then and perhaps not gotten around to it yet. It's worth reading in any case, however. Judge Dee is one of the great literary detectives.
