hi I confused about update firmware
I have a kindle PW3 4Gig black with firmware 5.8.1 that is jailbreak and I have koreader, custom fonts, library sync etc.
if I upgrade to 5.9.7 jailbreak will be survive and can I install koreader again?

This should work, but I definitely recommend NOT to use any 5.9.x fw version for PW3. Get the update to the last 5.8.x series version from Amazon (v5.8.11) and install this locally via UYK command:

Don't forget to reinstall all your hacks ... but surely you already knew this...

why do you Not recommend upgrade to 5.9.x fw?
can you get a link about update locally via UYK command (is that copy FW and update with update your kindle? Correct me if I'm wrong)

The local update is indeed
a) Get the firmware file mentioned above.
b) Copy it via USB cable to the root of the user visible storage; NOT inside of a folder.
c) Look for "Update Your Kindle" (aka "UYK") command - this MUST NOT be grayed out (if so, you don't have the appropriate fw file, or it is corrupted).
d) Do the UYK.
e) ... like "enjoy!"
f) Create the auto update blocking folder "update.bin.tmp.partial" in the root of the user visible storage (besides "documents" etc.) if this doesn't exist yet.

I have a KOA2 (WiFi, champagne gold, 32Gb) Serial GOOO P114.... Silly me, I upgraded it to 5.9.7. Do you know if it's possible to downgrade it installing update_kindle_oasis_9th_factory_5.9.0.6.bin? If nobody knows, I'll try anyway (at least it will be a bit more information that may be useful)

If the downgrade is succesfull, I decided to JB it to be able to use Kindle Collections (Calibre plugin). In such case, knc1, I would appreciate if you PM me the password to download the necessary files.

It is not possible since you let it upgrade. You can try, of course, and report back on the likely failure.

I have a German-bought 3G KOA2 with factory-installed 5.9.2.0.1, serial G000S211... which I've never updated. Any chance of success? I'd like to try but I'm slightly confused about what the KOA2 procedure is.

Hi, I just recently bought a new Kindle Paperwhite 7th Generation - 2015 release. (new not refurbished) from amazon, blocked wifi before starting, but came with firmware 5.9.6.1 Serial # G090 KB

My question is, is there or will there soon be a software jailbreak available (by reading i'm assuming no but better safe than sorry)

Second, I'm not skilled at all to do the serial jailbreak, if needed how much would you guys charge to do it? Thanks!

I've just found out that the kindlets support on PW2 remains even in 5.9.7.
CoolReader is being started via azw2.

PW2 != PW3, so that's not terribly surprising.

I'm very saddened nobody has responded to me. I have a HAKKO FX-888 Soldering iron in its box but don't have soldering experience (very little, i think I fried an old Iphone 3G years ago but successfully repaired the sim adapter once by soldering.)

If anybody can help me or guide me to do it right, I can attempt it myself. I have time to do the job right to fit anybody's schedule if anybody is willing to help me.

I really would appreciate anybody who is willing to help me.
