PRS-950
Looking for a clean Sony PRS-950 with a battery that still holds a reasonable charge.
Rich Wood, Reno, NV Picked up a couple in excellent condition from ebay sellers who placed them on bid. Much better winning bid prices than most of the BIN listings are asking. Last edited by Richwood; 01-24-2018 at 01:02 PM. |

Chances are, the battery is going to be an issue.

Kindle use better batteries? I( have Kindle DX and K2 / K Keyboard units that still hold a reasonable charge. Replacement batteries are listed as available on ebay for the PRS-950. Replacement screens too.

Quote:
"Reasonable charge" is a subjective assessment. Most batteries from that time period are facing imminent death or are already dead. |

Besides, you can get a Reader with a bigger screen, better screen, faster, more features, and a front light.

I already have one, the Kobo Aura One and possibly the Kindle Oasis 7" screen one. The Kindle DX has been my usual home use e-reader for years too. I just tend to be a technogeek for some technologies and enjoy owning both old and current samples of them.

Some of the ebay prices are ridiculous IMO. I did pick up one with a screen spot problem for $50 and it still contained some books and short stories, some created by Calibre, as well as a bunch of notes I deleted without reading. Like it enough I may purchase a replacement screen and try replacing it. Still fully usable as is though.
